In line with the ESF+ Programme obligations, awardees are expected to remain/return to Malta for a minimum period of 5 years post completion of the Research Project. Such condition will be checked with the relevant Competent Authorities. The Project Leader reserves the right to request further information/proof form the awardees. In the case that such obligation is not fulfilled, the Researcher might be requested to refund all, or part of the funds already received according to the circumstances of each case. This section will be dealt case by case basis.

Refer to clause 13.8 Any intellectual property, including patents, directly arising from, or derived from the research work funded by the Post-doctoral Research Grant and carried out by the Awardee shall be covered by an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) agreement that acknowledges that the research work carried out, is co funded by the ESF+ 2021- 2027.

The total of the grant cannot exceed €200,000.

When or whether these are paid to the university in instalments or in whole payment, this must be dealt directly with the university. MES will refund the researcher what has been paid by him/her.

Refer to section 12. Tuition fees and or/bench fees are to be paid by the Researcher directly to the Recognised Educational Institution. The fees paid shall then be reimbursed on the presentation of invoice/s and the original official receipt/s of payment/s or equivalent issued by the receiving institution. Awardees are bound to provide a Bank Statement as proof of payments/transaction.

Each grant holder is entitled as outlined in the regulations:

Post-Doctoral Research Allowance pro-rata – Clause 12.1.1

Eligible Direct Research Support Expenses – Clause 12.1.3

Research Abroad Allowance including accommodation (in case research project is carried outside Malta and researcher resides outside Malta – Clause 12.1.4

Short / Long Visits – Clauses 12.1.5 – 12.1.6

The research will prevail as the main fulltime as stipulated by the regulations. This grant is based on fulltime research only to be granted the post-doctoral research allowance. Therefore, any additional employment must be approved by the board.

The terms of employment as in Research, MES only requires a declaration that the research is conducted on FULL TIME basis each year As regarding to any other employment, please see clause 12.1.1 page 15 of the regulations. No, the awardee will not be considered as MES employee. It is advisable to check with the competent authorities such as Job plus/ and the office of the Commissioner for Revenue regarding the employment status and tax obligations.

No, late applications are not considered by the Reach High II Board. Moreover, the link for the online application shuts down on the closing date and is automatically removed from the website.
